This post is way overdue.
My first baby turned 12 on
Christmas day. I can’t believe I have a
young woman on my hands! How time flies. . .Maya is a joy to have as a daughter.
She is so cheerful and helpful and wise beyond her years. I don’t know how I
would survive without her.
There is something really special about being the oldest. The oldest is the child the parents get to "practice" being parents on. The oldest is the only child who has their parents all to themselves for a little while (even if it was for only 23 months!). When I think of my Maya I am flooded with so many memories. Rocking the little baby in my arms, the toddler hobbling around, the child so full of passion and tenderness, the young adolescent whose beauty puts me to shame - I am overwhelmed with love. I am sad when I think I only have 6 more years with her until she leaves for college.
I was feeling sad the other day that Dallin didn't have any brothers. I often feel like he needs a boy to play with and I was feeling sorry for myself about it. Then in a sweet moment of understanding I was given a glimpse of what my life was like before I came to Earth and I had the distinct impression that Maya and Chloe and Ava were my very best friends. I felt that I knew I would be responsible for caring for Dallin and that these three beautiful girls promised they would help me with that responsibility and come to Earth as my daughters. I felt so blessed and comforted in that knowledge.
Maya wanted to get her hair and nails done for her birthday. Then we bought a special dress for her first day in Young Women's. She had her birthday pie on Christmas Day. I also took her out for a private photo shoot. Happy Birthday my lovely girl!

How fun! I really like Mayas birthday dress- I want one like it! :) Hard to believe we have a grandchild that is almost a teenager!
Such a pretty girl. I was so funky-looking at her age!
Maya truly is amazing. So lovely and graceful and such s lovely voice. Very loyal to her family and kind and helpful.
Yes that is an awesome way to look at your daughters - that they are your best friends and helping you with Dallin. That's so weird to have a young woman for a daughter! Aah! But fun :)
Another great post. I love Maya's birthday dress and pictures. She is lovely, just like her mother.
She looks so old. And I can vouch for Michelle's comment haha
